If you want to go fast go alone If you want to go far go together - African Proverb
Welcome to our first Blog and our first post .
We want to create a space where we can share and exchange news, information thoughts and ideas and inform you of any developments that are taking place within Balm Therapies which, includes an overview of what we are working on, and also a space where we will be reflecting on our thoughts and ideas on wellbeing.
We are a group which consists of individuals from Therapeutic, Holistic Health, Training and Creative backgrounds.
In bringing together experience expertise, enthusiasm, and a passion for change, we focus on mental health and wellbeing within communities. Using training and information to raise awareness of therapeutic tools which are holistic, creative, and accessible allows for the possibility of creating change. This could be a change in perception or change in which mental health is managed.
We advocate and encourage models of self-care which allow for the possibility of taking responsibility for identifying the tools, and practices which are relevant to the needs of individuals and communities, e.g. for some people Yoga, may assist in alleviating feelings of anxiety and stress, for others it may be meditation or different forms of physical exercise.
We believe that it is important to consider preventative measures by which mental health and wellbeing can be maintained, as they say, 'One ounce of prevention beats one hundred pounds of cure'.
We like to explore a range of strategies, and mechanisms which can enhance quality of life and assist in coping with the many challenges which we often face. The holistic perspective is rooted in the mind, body spirit paradigm, and for those who seek balance it is often necessary that attention should be given to all three areas
